[April 5th] 1,200 families in HCMC apartment complex line up for clean water at night

Over 1,200 families at an apartment complex in HCMC’s Thu Duc City had to secure clean water from tankers in the middle of the night due to disrupted water supply.

On Thursday, the citizens at the four blocks of the Ehome S apartment complex in Phu Huu Ward did not have clean water sources for daily use. Water shortages have lasted since Wednesday, affecting thousands of people.

Pham Huong, a citizen at the complex, said that the apartment management board announced that water supply was cut until 12 p.m. Wednesday as the water supply unit has yet to fix the pipes. But clean water did not return after that.

The lack of clean water prevented her family of four from showering or doing laundry. They could not do anything about the dirty house and dishes.

By around 10 p.m. Wednesday, the water company had sent water tankers out. Thousands of people brought with them buckets to store the water, but the efforts were not significant. The people had to continue to wait in line so they could bring the water into the elevators and into their own apartments.

A representative of Ehome S said the Thu Duc Water company had resumed the water supply starting at 4 p.m. Wednesday, but the water flow was too weak for the people to pump them into their houses for use. Around 1,240 families, with around 3,000 people, were affected by the lack of clean water.
