Apple’s iPhone 16, the world’s best-selling smartphone in 2025, has received a price cut in Vietnam after months of price increases.
The 128GB iPhone16 is now selling for around VND20.4 million (US$776), down VND600,000 from a month ago.
Nguyen Nhu Thanh, deputy head of Apple’s product category at FPT Shop, told Dan Tri newspaper that the 16 continues to post steady sales in Vietnam but now ranks behind the 17 and 15 as consumers shift toward either newer or cheaper models.
According to Counterpoint Research, iPhone 16 was the world’s best-selling smartphone in 2025.
It remained one of the world’s top-selling models in the first quarter of 2026, ranking sixth, while its successor, the 17, took the top spot.
Despite its global success, the 16 has attracted less demand in Vietnam since its launch in September 2024, particularly after undergoing several price increases.
The device also faces intense competition in Vietnam’s upper mid-range smartphone segment from newer Android flagships, including the Samsung Galaxy S26, OPPO Find X9s, vivo X300 and Xiaomi 17.
A spokesperson for retailer Di Dong My said the latest price cut is expected to boost sales, adding that the 16 holds an edge over Android rivals in the same price segment because of Apple’s integrated ecosystem, reliable performance and long-term value.
